This is Mentor





“Mentor” is a management development program, on behalf of Nettverk Stavanger, where senior managers are volunteering as mentors for a whole year.

The mentor program is free of charge, everyone under the age of 40 can apply for a mentor, and there are five mentors every year. “Mentor” is carried out with support from Bjornson Organizational psychologists, and our volunteers Maren Gilje Sekse and Håvard Nygård is in charge of the program.

Having a mentor can provide you with many advantages. A mentor can help to shorten your learning curve, open your mind to new ideas and possibilities, identify opportunities and advise on how to promote yourself in business. You may benefit from a relationship with someone who provides knowledge, insight, support, guidance, and open doors for you.

In addition to learn, discuss, listen and being pushed in the right direction the mentor program gives you’re the opportunity to get a relationship with one of the most talented senior executives in the region. The program gives you, in addition, the possibility to build relations to the other mentors and the other mentees. There will be two or three half-day meetings every year, with our collaborators.

Everyone under the age of 40 can apply, there is no requirement for management experience, but motivation letter will be emphasized. The program runs over 12 months, and a new group of five mentors and mentees will start up once a year. Personality and ability tests through collaborators will provide useful reflections before the relationship between mentor and mentee begins. The start will take place at a half-day seminar at Bjornson Organizational Psychologists. After that, one the next year have at least one meeting a month between mentor and mentee. To create a safe dialogue must confidentiality declaration is signed by both mentor and mentee.


Voluntary commitment
Nettverk Stavanger is in a unique position to succeed in the implementation of such a program as “Mentor”. This is because we have a large and simultaneously increasing number of participants and because we operate with a voluntary commitment without commercial constraints. The voluntary commitment means that we are able to connect with the best mentors and the best partners to offer the most solid mentoring opportunities for young leaders in the region – and still free of charge.
